The Game: "The Horse," who won the 1954 Heisman Trophy as a linebacker and fullback at the University of Wisconsin, scored two touchdowns: a two-yard run in the second quarter, and most famously, a head-first, one-yard plunge into the end zone that gave the Colts the title. The shot of Ameche's game-winning score might be the most famous photo in football history.
Post-Game: Ameche retired after the 1960 season, ending a productive six-year career during which he played in four Pro Bowls. Along with teammate Gino Marchetti, he founded the Baltimore-based Gino's Hamburger chain. Ameche, the cousin of actor Don Ameche, died in 1988; he was 55.
